Andrew Rivers is a comedian and Connected Comedy reader who reached out to me recently to tell me about a great project he’s been working on.
For the past few years he’s asked comedians he comes across at his various performances to write down a bit of advice for him about the art and business of comedy in his notebooks. Besides being a great learning resource for himself, he’s shared many of the 190+ bits of advice he’s received on Tumblr and Facebook.

Some wise advice among those notes.
I really like Emo Philips and Kirk Fox’s…
Showing these notes really proves that perspective has arrived…
That was awesome. Thanks for sharing. My favorite was Kirk Fox – great perspective on audience and a simple mantra to live by – NEVER BAIL. Keep up the great work, Josh! Loved your podcast on embracing the nice.
Sorry, meant “niche”. I think you nailed it on the head in a way that I couldn’t see before. The goal is first for people to take notice of you, whatever form that takes, and expand from there. The fear of being pigeonholed is a non-reality that just holds you back. If there’s any fear to use to motivate yourself, it really should be the fear of never being noticed…
