    Thanks for the insight- I know we discussed it a bunch in the forum. I’ll see what I can come up with in terms of providing some kind of value in an email list beyond just updates. I’m not one who loves getting lots of links to videos or articles every day in my email, because there’s no time to keep checking on it. So I’ll have to figure out what I’d want in my own inbox.

    Andy has a point on that. I’ve tried curating non-me stuff for my list and it mostly results in unsubscribes.

    I do offer exclusives and specials periodically. Sometimes they work, sometimes not, just like anything.

    One thing I try to do is make my newsletter more “email to a friend”. I don’t use a big html email or anything. I make sure to include not just the art “front end”, but also some insights into the creation of what I’m doing. And, most importantly I think, I ask them to write me back and let me know what they’re doing too. I try to make it a two-way discussion as much as possible.

    It also ties in to being clear what you’re promising when they sign up. If people think they’re signing up for one thing and then you send another, they’ll unsubscribe.

    But, if you promise curated stuff and they sign up for that, they won’t unsubscribe when you send that.
