    This is a pretty smart analysis… but I think the last line:

    …hits it on the head. Marc Maron, Louis CK, and Patton Oswalt are the biggest names that present the best example of how to evolve to succeed in the new economy… and many lessor known but talented comics like J-L are following that lead, and learning and innovating, and creating a new (and better, I think) way of building comedy careers.

    Many other comics (like me, as an example) need to get cracking, take these lessons, and elevate the art and grow the industry. It isn’t a matter of waiting for a break anymore. We need to make our breaks.

    This is great information. I’ve been in the business almost 20 years and I’m still leaning how to sell myself online as opposed to on stage.
