Guys, this article is a long one but its absolutely worth the read.  Just an outstanding account of someone trying to integrate into the Comedy Cellar's circle.

It really was, things I took out of it were that just like everything else in comedy you have to put in your time if you want to achieve something, in this case getting into the club's circle.  Also once you do get a small opening, as with her 'audition', you have to be ready to jump on it.
